Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic floor Physiotherapy involves treating issues such as muscle weakness or tightness post childbirth, post menopause problems, dyspareunia, vaginismus, chronic lower back and SIJ pain, vulvodynia, pelvic pain and cramps, constipation, fecal and urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, Diastasis recti and sexual dysfunction.

Physiotherapists will manually examine muscles of the pelvic floor both externally and internally, palpating to locate tender points, tenderness, tightness, trigger points of pain and guiding patients to manually tighten or loosen muscles to assess tone and function. Also, to isolate and assess strength of the pelvic floor and core muscles to find the cause of the pelvic floor dysfunction and chronic back issues which are influenced by pelvic floor muscles.
